*scratches head* Then it wouldn't be a fwd. It would be AWD VR4s are FWD until wheelslip, then it begins transferring power through the transfer case, to the rear differential. That being said the transmissions explode on a regular basis when abused, something you don't worry about with a Z32 transmission. And why isn't an VR-4 an AWD in your book? See above. True, but... The VR-4 was a TT V6, AWD, had 4 wheel steering, active aero, had cockpit adjustable suspension, had active exhaust, was designed for high speed performance and track tested, yata yata yata.... It's also heavier than the Z, FWD until wheelslip occurs, has a weak transmission / transfer-case, etc. It plows endlessly, frankly it's the epitome of luxo-cruiser (something people have accused the Z of being quite a bit). To me, the VR-4 is pretty much up there with the Twin Turbo Z, except I feel that the Z is the better all around sports car. It's arguably similar, just FWD, less reliable, heavier, uglier (subjective, I know), and a Mitsubishi. Draw your own conclusions.
